Abstract

This article considers certain language manifestations of Spanish flamenco dance in the under standing of Russian performers. The author proposes a semantic interpretation of some words, phrases and exclamations of the Spanish language, characteristic of the art of flamenco. It is stated, that people mastering the flamenco dance have a clear motivation to learn Spanish language, since it contributes to a deeper insight into the flamenco culture. The article emphasizes polysemy of interpretation of the terms «duende» and «flamenco», which has generated scientific disputes among Spanish researchers of this art. The author insists on the interpretation of the word «flamenco» in the meaning of «flame» (flamma). The article highlights a division of flamenco styles by the complexity level of perception among Russian performers. It is concluded that styles that have musical rhythm as 2/4 or 4/4 are the most accessible for Russians to un-
derstand, which is explained by the musical meter, which is more common for most of our compatriots. Based on the results of a content analysis of some Spanish films about flamenco dance, the main structural elements common to flamenco singing and dance, as well as their corresponding choreographic manifestations, are revealed. It is concluded that in addition to mastering the complex rhythm and flamenco dance technique, the Russian performer needs to know Spanish language in order to adequately and fully understand all the meanings of the dance terminology, the lexical meaning of singing and the essence of flamenco culture.
